Pere Ubu - The Lighthouse, Poole, UK 11-Nov-2004 live
soundtrack to "It Came From Outer Space"

The film was projected (you can just hear the
projector) above/behind the band and as they watched
they were 'conducted' by David Thomas. It was probably
not improvised but they played such little 'music'
throughout the course of the film that viewers were
rather disappointed. The film was short and everyone
expected the band to play a short set afterwards, but

As for the music, Ubu fans will recognize a few riffs
from Final Solution and others but these songs are not
played in full. Some of these tracks are very short
and cannot really be considered as 'tracks'. Having
said that, track 8 is a real song, The taper removed
almost all trace of the dialogue and all music from
the original soundtrack (though there was very little
of this anyway).

For more info and reviews on this Ubu venture see
Gary Numan BBC Rock Hour Pre FM from vinyl
Broadcast date September 7th, 1980

Congratulations to Mark from Binghamton for correctly guessing the name of the band which three members of the 1970 rock band Wicked Lester later formed, KISS. He's won himself a himself a pair of Grassroots Festival 2007 tickets.

I may be giving another pair away on the air next week. Stay tuned!
